Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
1. Agreement
These terms govern your use of LiftCodex (liftcodex.com) and everything on it. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
2. What LiftCodex is
LiftCodex is a free, informational strength training reference. It provides strength standards, calculators, training program summaries, and educational guides. No account is required and no payment is taken.
LiftCodex is currently in beta. Data, formulas, and features are still being refined and may change or be removed without notice.
3. Not medical or professional advice
This is the most important term here. LiftCodex does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and nothing on the site creates a doctor patient, coach client, or other professional relationship. Strength training carries an inherent risk of serious injury. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any training or nutrition programme, and stop immediately if you experience pain. See our full Disclaimer.
4. Calculators and standards are estimates
Every number the site produces is an estimate derived from published formulas and population level data. One rep max estimates, TDEE and macro figures, body fat percentages, and strength level rankings are approximations, not measurements. They can be materially wrong for any individual. Do not use an estimated one rep max as a substitute for a properly supervised, progressively loaded attempt.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these terms.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk download content in a way that places unreasonable load on the site, or that ignores our robots.txt.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its infrastructure, or any connected system.
- Introduce malware, or interfere with the site's normal operation for other users.
- Republish substantial portions of our content as your own, or present our data as your original work.
- Submit an email address that is not yours, or submit deliberately false information through our forms.
6. Intellectual property
The site's original content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 licence. You are free to share and adapt it for non-commercial purposes, provided you credit LiftCodex and link back. Our Content License page sets out the full terms and the carve-outs.
The site's source code, name, logo, and branding are not covered by that licence and remain ours. Creative Commons licences are not designed for software, and attribution is not permission to present yourself as LiftCodex.
Underlying scientific formulas (such as Epley, Brzycki, Wilks, DOTS, IPF GL, Mifflin St Jeor, and similar) are published work belonging to their respective authors and governing bodies. We implement them; we do not claim them. Third party program names (StrongLifts, Starting Strength, 5/3/1, and others) belong to their respective owners and are referenced descriptively. LiftCodex is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.
7. Your submissions
If you submit your email address or complete our quiz, you consent to us contacting you about LiftCodex. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing [email protected]. How we handle that data is described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Third party links
The site links to external resources. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
9. Availability
The site is provided free of charge and we make no promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, or error free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time without notice.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non infringement. We do not warrant that the content, data, or calculations are accurate, complete, or current.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LiftCodex and anyone involved in producing it will not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. This includes indirect, incidental, special, consequential, and punitive damages, and covers personal injury sustained while training.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify LiftCodex against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the site.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by European Union law and by the law of the EU member state in which LiftCodex is established. Data protection is governed by the GDPR, as described in our Privacy Policy.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, nothing here removes the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence, and you keep the right to bring proceedings in your local courts and to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
15. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force.
